Stuck with the Homepage

Gunwing

Question

I don't know if somenone has encoutered this problem before because I haven't found the solution in the forum.

I have completely reinstalled videowave 7 and all the applications with it.

Now I am in front of the homepage and when I click on Videowave (or DVD Builder) nothing happens.

I've tried many of your tricks and they are so far unsuccessful.

Windows 2000

IE 6

256 Mo

Hard Disk : 6 Go left

Can you help me with this weird problem ?

Ok, so now we need to know:

Do you have the stand alone version of videowave 7 or is your version included with Easy Media Creator 7/7.5

Also what exact version is it.

If it IS part of the EMC 7 package do the other programs within it work ok.

And tell us what "tricks" you have tried so that we don't repeat any.

Ok thanks for your help :

I have EMC 7 and the only things that work are Captures, Media Manager and the Roxio player.

I have renamed Media Manager (Media Manager.old) / I have executed the DAO dll file / Cleaned the computer / Tried to repair it with windows / checked the Firewall allowances and I think that's all.

Have you checked for spyware?

Since you reinstalled it, have you gone to the Roxio Software Update page and seen if there are any updates for your version? ( Automatic update doesn't work any more.)

Have you gone to the Windows\ Control Panel\ System Properties\ Advanced\ Performance Settings\ Advanced tab \ Data Execution Prevention and see if DEP is turned off for the Roxio programs?

What version of the program do you have? Did you download it, did it come with a DVD burner or computer, or is it a Retail Version? If it is a Retail version, there is a fix that might help.

I bought it. There's no update for my version. I have checked the spywares.

What's the fix ?

We still do not know what version of EMC 7 you have?.

Open up Creator Classic, click on help, then about, this will give you the version number.

Getting info from you is like pulling teeth. :) You still haven't posted your version number.

Here is a Roxio post from about 2 years ago, or more.:

DVD BUILDER WON’T LAUNCH

Symptom:

DVD Builder does not launch, no error message is shown

1. Download and apply the latest update for Easy Media Creator 7

a. Click on Start --> Programs --> Roxio --> Roxio Easy Media Creator Home

b. Once that application launches, click on 'Extras & Utilities'

c. Now click on 'Roxio Updater'

d. Follow the rest of the instructions on screen to be stepped through the update process.

e. Reboot your computer once complete

f. Try to launch DVD Builder

2. Download AdAware and clean any spyware found on your system

AdAware is a spyware removal utility which is free for non-commerical use. If you have any questions about this, please refer to the vendors website at: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

a. Download and install AdAware from: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10045910...&tag=button

b. Once installed, launch AdAware

c. Click on 'Check for updates now'

d. Click on the 'Connect' button

e. When you recieve a message stating 'New reference-file available' please click 'OK' to download and install the update

f. Click 'Finish' once the update has been applied

g. Now that the update has completed, from the main screen click on 'Start'

h. Choose the scan mode of 'Perform smart system-scan' and click 'Next'

i. Please let AdAware fully scan your system for any spyware.

j. Once complete, please allow AdAware to clean all spyware found on your system

k. Once the removal is complete, reboot your computer

l. Try to launch DVD Builder

Important Note: AdAware is not a Roxio application and as such Roxio does not offer any warranty or assistance with this application. By

using this application you understand that Roxio does not assume any responsibility or liability for problems arrising from its use.

3. ONLY IF THE ABOVE STEPS DO NOT WORK SHOULD YOU CONTINUE WITH THESE STEPS BELOW

NOTE: Applying this fix before completing the above steps will not fix problems addressed in either our update or caused by spyware.

Please do not jump to this step as it will only help a small minority of customers. 95% of DVD Builder not launching issues will be fixed by steps 1 and 2.

a. Download and save the 'emc71hot1.exe' application to your desktop using the following link:

http://tools.roxio.com/support/hotfix/emc71hot1.exe

b. Close all open software including Internet Explorer and any Roxio applications

c. Double click on the 'mgbo.exe' file located on your desktop

If I read your post correctly, you have only 6 GB of free space on your hard drive. That's going to make it extremely difficult to run DVD Builder or VideoWave.

Try defragmenting your hard drive and also see if you can free up some more space on your hard drive.

Also make certain that Windows Data Execution Prevention will allow Roxio programs to launch. If you need more information, type "Data Execution Prevention" in Windows Help and select the option to see if DEP is available on your computer.

I know you're frustrated, but a little more detailed explanation might help us help you. We don't work for Roxio. We like to help others get their programs working so that they can preserve their pictures and videos.
