Depending on the type of video file you are starting with, Toast lets you set chapter markers in time intervals, but not as short as 30 seconds. Also, there is a DVD spec limit of 99 chapters per video title. The marker interval is set in the Edit window.

If your source video is MPEG then Toast either uses its existing chapter markers or adds chapter markers at approximately 5-minute intervals if none are present.

Hi tsantee,

Thanks. I'll have a look at the chapter makers. I'm just basically trying to emulate the behavior of my EyeTV where I can just skip through the commercials.

Cheers,

Steve

I suppose you know you can edit out the commercials in EyeTV. I also think that same process works for entering chapter markers in EyeTV that will be recognized by Toast, even if you don't actually cut out the commercials. I'm new with my EyeTV and need to try out some of these things myself.

Hi,

Yes, I can edit out the commercials OK. But I was thinking that if I could just have a chapter marker every 30 seconds, maybe it is easier to just skip past the commercials while I watch the dvd. I didn't think to look for a way to set chapter markers in EyeTV. I'll have to take a look for this. I'm also new to EyeTV (and Toast...)

Thanks,

Steve
