Sony Mavica Still Camera Compatibility

RobB

Question

Hi. I just purchased EMC 9 to be able to upload photos from my Sony Mavica MCV-CD300 still camera. It is about 5 years old. Now I learn that this is not a "supported camera". Shucks!

Any suggestions on how to upload photos from this camera? Do I need to invest in a another media program? Ever since Windows XP was installed, I've had problems with the software.

Any help you can give would be appreciated?

How did you do it before? Sony is not known for following Standards…

James, Not sure. I had a very early version of Roxio (5 Basic) and Adaptec Direct CD. Ever since I got the camera, I just put the mini cd into the drive, and a reader would come up and allow me to save photos on the hard drive. Then, after XP, the mini cd's always gave rise to an "instability" error, but I could us a usb from my camera and the little screen with the waving flashlight would appear and read the disk, as before. This finally ceased to function a few weeks ago (so all my Xmas photos are trapped on cd).

I tried various ways to download drivers, but nothing seemed to work after XP.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried putting the miniCD into the CD/DVD reader in the computer. All computer CD players have the 8cm center ring for those and Windows shouldn't have any trouble reading it.

Gary, Thanks for the suggestion. That's the way I used to do it, and I would think that would work. But, for some reason it doesn't. that's why I started using the USB port direct from the camera, which now also does not work. As soon as I install my new EMC9, I tried both ways but it does not even recognize the camera or cd. Alas, I'm frustrated, but hoping somebody has a workaround.

Thanks.

Gary, You know what, I just tried it again in my second drive (I usually don't use it) and, voila, the autoplay is working!!! Thanks for the suggestion. Don't know why it did not work for all this time, but now I'm a satisfied customer.

Really appreciate your help! Thanks again.
