Slideshow Assistant

abbethel

Question

I created a slideshow in "assistant" and saved the project and now I would like to go back and finish the project but cannot open the file. The file extension is .dmss but Slideshow Assistant will not open a file with this extension. In other words, when you go to File and Open, this file does not show. Yet it shows up when I use the Media Manager. Any ideas on how to re-open a file created with the program once you "finish" it. I tried creating the slideshow in Videowave but when I added text to the first photo and then tried to add text to the second photo, it carries the text forward to whichever photo is selected. Hence, I used the "Assistant" but now cannot reopen the .dmss file to finish the project. Thanks!

Thanks so much. I will try this when I create ANOTHER slideshow. I have created two slideshows and both of them I can find in Media Manager (the icons, that is) and am not able to open either of them--double clicking, dragging -- nothing will open the .dmss file. When you make a slideshow and "finish" the project should you not be able to go to File and "Open" the project in Slideshow?? Maybe I'm not ending the program correctly. I'll try a small sample slideshow next time (before I spend two hours on a slideshow and then can't find it!) and I'll do the text as you suggested. Thanks

I have given up trying to open the .dmss files and have taken your suggestion to create the slideshow in Videowave. Following your directions, I have successfully added titles in the Timeline window. Now I'm trying to re-arrange them which was easy to do by dragging in Slideshow. However, this method does not seem to work in Videowave. Can someone tell how or if it's possible to re-arrange the photos in Videowave? Thanks.

Switch to the Storyline view and you should be able to re-arrange the images a lot easier.

As to text on an image in VideoWave. Select an image in timeline and then use the further most icon on the left just above the timeline to open the internal track. Add the text to that image. It will display for as long as that image is displayed. Unless you change effects such as fade in/out or if you change the time that the text is displayed.

Internal tracks display yellow on my computer. (See image)

Launch VideoWave. Go to File and Open Project. Then select .dmss as the Type of file. Browse to your .dmss and you should be able to open it.

Browse to that file on your hard drive, and double click on it. If it doesn't open in the program, then it is corrupt.
