Cannot play burned DVDs on my DVD player

Babynat

Question

I am sure this is an utterly stupid question to people who know how to use this software but here goes. I have my DVD+RW cd, I have placed it in my laptop then formatted (it formatted automatically I did not select any options), then I have my movie in .avi format (not sure if this makes a difference) I drag and drop this file to my formatted DVD (as it says I can). It says the file is there but my DVD player won't recognise this.

Am I doing something wrong? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your player will not play any disc that is not dvd compliant (unless your player says it plays divx movies). In order for your disc to be dvd compliant, you'll have to use an application such as MyDVD to add your avi files and make menus (optional) and encode to a compliant format. Then this can be burned to disc for use in your player.
