EMC9 Deluxe

HappyBob

Question

Now that Deluxe EMC9 is released that includes additional features not present in the Suite version, I'd be interested in buying the Deluxe. BUT, I really don't need another Dazzle.

Any chance that Roxio will make a software version only available for those that already invested 80-90 $ in the suite version?

I'm told that the Deluxe version has 30+ menu styles available for MYDVD.

Hopefully Roxio (Sonic) will heed the call of customers who would like to purchase EMC 9 without the dazzle device.

I doubt it. They seem about as capable of listening to their customer base as they do in following up on things like the offer for a v.8 Platinum upgrade for v.8 purchasers. I suppose I should have known that they would pull this one out of the hat but after reviewing numerous posts stating that the current v.9 was the only version going to be released I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This now falls in the category of "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." They won't have a chance for the third time. Their choice, not mine.

I don't recall seeing (and can't find any) any posts stating that. I know that there were a lot of posts that discussed it, but of course none of the users here could do anything but "guess" what may or may not have been coming. Only someone from Roxio/Sonic could have posted anything, and then only if they knew about it, and I didn't see anything until it was released. Same thing happened with the standalone MyDVD 9's. They just showed up one day recently. No one knew they were coming. I wouldn't be surprised to see a standalone VideoWave 9 at some point also, altho no one has stated that there will or will not be. At least this time around with the Deluxe, they weren't enabling "crippled functions". It just offers some additional programs, hardware and content. Again who knows, they may even offer the additional content as an add on that could be purchased. So I guess you only fooled yourself by the way you read your fellow users "guesses".

No post that I know of stated this "exactly" however it was inferred that some had been assured that there would not be a second version out. I'll post a link back if I can locate the specific posts though I don't believe I contributed to the thread.

That would be a good option to offer EMC9 Deluxe "software only" package.

This is a users forum. Once in while, Roxio staff drops in and hopefully he/she reads this thread.

Didn't everyone say that they weren't going to release a Deluxe version ? Yeah.

Not always, but sometimes people put a qualifier on that statement about V9 being the full program with nothing disabled (not like V8 Suite and V8 Deluxe). I believe that is still true. From what I read, there is nothing new enabled in EMC 9 Deluxe. There are just a bunch of new programs and new menus and themes. The later is in response to people asking for more. Until someone plays with it, I don't even think it fixes any bugs.

No one said they didn't think there was going to be a deluxe version that I recall. What most were speculating was that if there was a deluxe version coming, it was going to be different than what happened with v 8 because v 9 didn't have any functionality disabled to begin with. And from the looks of it, that's just what happened. they added some programs, more content, and the capture device. No additional functions or other changes were made to the existing programs.

I do agree that there does not seem to be any non-functional tools in EMC9 Suite. There are some bugs, but Roxio tech service says they are not corrected in the Deluxe version.

I was told, repeatedly, in Nov 06 and Dec 06, by inside sales that there was no plans to release a Deluxe version of EMC9, as far as they were aware . Key phase, that.

I asked John @ Roxio, he told me to ask inside sales about a software version of Deluxe 9. Inside sales stated" Not as far as we know, however we only learned about a deluxe version package within the past week, so we really didn't even know a deluxe was coming at all.

So back to my original post... I really don't need another dazzle device. I would like to see what the other menus styles are like. I personally am not interested in the mobility features. The sound processor sounds interesting, but what I've got in the suite seems to be OK. The only bugs that I've complained about aren't fixed. My Suite version is so new that I just got my 20.00 rebate two weeks ago.

I'd probably be willing to take a chance and part with maybe 30.00 dollars for the deluxe without the dazzle device, but for 100.00, no thanks. To pay 100.00 for extra menu styles seems a bit over the edge.

Hopefully Roxio (Sonic) will heed the call of customers who would like to purchase EMC 9 without the dazzle device.
