Question

Hello again!

I'm loving this software, as i've stated in almost all of my posts- maybe I can get some input from some of you on what I'd like to do.....

I'd like to make a DVD of various mediums- mainly showing samples of old home movies with and without added music, and a slideshow also with and without custom music added. I'm starting a little side business, and some phtographer I know asked for a DVD showing samples of my work so he can present it to his customers.

I only need a few minutes of samples, plus I assume would need to create an additional text slideshow to display prices & services.

Any suggestions on how I would go about doing this? I basically want to present it like a tutorial. I would like to also, if possible, show a still of a menu (most likely a wedding, or a party menu) to explain that the DVD includes this as well.

Thanks in advance for any lessons you can teach!!

The component that I would recommend you start with to create your compilation of video clips and slideshow is Videowave. You can do all that you mention except for the menu screen in there. Then, if you want a menu with links to various titles or chapters in your show, import it into MY DVD. I suggest you read about those two components in the help files and the extensive user manual, which you can download from

Thanks for your reply. As far as the menu goes, i just want to show a menu with the cursor going to a button, and then showing the chapters, then choosing a chapter and seeing the video play for a few seconds. There has to be a way to capture this. I'm liking it to those demos that Sknis made HERE. Of course, my video wouldn't be how to use the software, it would be samples of the finished product and the features included.

The demos were made using SnagIt by TechSmith. There is a trial version although the purchased version is not expensive.

Build your projects in VideoWave (the individual slide shows) and MyDVD (menu and navigation). Use something on your computer to play it while you capture what you are doing with SnagIt. The preview screen in MyDVD may be enough. You may have to burn it to a file or disc to get the navigation to show if the preview screen is not sufficient. You can adjust SnagIt to capture only the preview screen or something less than full screen. When you have captured the avi file, you can do some extra editing in VideoWave and then burn that to a disc using MyDVD.

Consultation fee (if this gets you the job) is a six pack or two. :)
