Easy CD Creator 5 Basic - XP Reinstall?

Denys

Recommended Posts

My Easy CD Creator 5 Basic was working fine under XP, but it is now broken, for reasons unknown. I want to repair or re-install it because it lets me create a bootable disk which I need to burn a "slipstreamed" XP disk incorporating SP2.

* Install from Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic disk won't work, says I have a more recent version.

* Change/Remove Progam produces an error, and won't let me remove or repair the broken version.

* I can uninstall it with Norton Systemworks, but install from disk still says I have a more recent version, so won't do it.

* Updating to the latest Easy CD Creator 5 from the website doesn't help.

Aaaaaaarrgghhhh! Any suggestions?

First uninstall using add/remove; then run roxizap to get out the rest of it. Roxizap, among other things, can be found here:

Then use the instructions found here to reinstall:

Software updates here:

There is no guarantee, but many have manged to get it to work, while many others haven't.

Er ... do you have auto-update for Microsoft, and have aquired IE 7 or WinPlayer 11? They are both suspicious, and may prevent reinstall.

As Lynn says - if you installed IE7 and/or WMP 11 - get rid of them as they will kill off any Roxio suite up to at least EMC8

If you can write a CD from an image file still, I'd recommend you try Autostreamer (this will slipstream SP2 into XP and also write a bootable .iso image on your hard drive)

Once you have that you can burn the 'new' XP bootable CD with Disc Copy and re-install and avoid Internet Explorer 7 and Media Player 11.
