"DivX DVDs" Crashes When Selecting DivX Files

sbendis

Question

Greetings, all!

I've reinstalled my system few weeks ago. Did a clean install of Creator Suite 9; installed the DivX 6.4 bundle and recently upgraded to the 6.5 bundle. However, regardless of which version of DivX that's installed the behaviour is the same. When I start the "DivX DVDs" item in the Video category, and then double-click a DivX file using the Add Movies button, I get this error dialog:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Roxio\Disc Copier\DiscCopier9.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Then the program is gone and the "Home" program restores. This feature has never worked for me in version 9 (but it did in version 8) and the file works fine. Has anyone experienced this? TIA,

I didn't really require the latest and greatest DivX to be installed. As long as the CODEC on my box will work with the files I have I'm good with it. So, rather than go through the hoops described in the article to have both versions coexist, I uninstalled both DivX and Roxio, and then just reinstalled Roxio. Lo and behold, everything works now.

Thanks very much for the pointer!

Not that many hoops really - it's just a matter of swapping a couple of files round and then telling the OS where they are.

I had to do it here to get access to DivX clips that I have and it took me all of 10 minutes (5 of which were in reading the notes)
