write lead in freeze

Question

i am copying a dvd+R DL to a DVD+R DL using toast 7.1.2 on a Mac G4 Dual 867 running Mac OSX 10.4.8. I have seen this error before but I was hoping it wouldn't happen a second time. when the copy process gets to write lead in it just sits forever and ever...1, 2, 5 days. I am burning from one internal DVD drive to an external USB 2.0 HP Lightscribe drive. Once it gets to write lead in you don't hear any spinning from the drives. nothing. any ideas as to why this write lead in is just sitting? If i choose force quit it doesn't say that toast is not responding.

I recommend choosing Save as Disc Image from the File menu and then burning that disc image to the blank disc using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

Direct copying of one DL disc to another seems very risky to me, even if you didn't encounter the lead in problem.
