judyray
I am using 16X DVDs, with LaCie d2 DVD±RW with LightScribe. It should burn 16X. OS X 10.3.9, G4 gigabit ethernet Mac. When I started doing the burn, Toast said it would be 2 minutes to burn the disk. However, it is way more than 2 minutes. It counts down very slowly. Shall I assume the disk is ok and just burning at a slower speed, or is this a symptom of a bad burn?
tsantee
As you've seen, the timer count down is inaccurate. Part of the problem is that drives burn discs at varying speeds with the slowest speed near the center of the disc (start of the burn) and the fastest speed near the outer edge. Also, buffer underrun prevention can slow down the actual burn time. The estimated burn time doesn't allow for any of this.
