"Extract Image" Doesn't Show Anthing

nooch

Question

When I try to Extract Image from a video, the window pops up, but shows nothing. THe hourglass goes away and nothing happens after that.

On an unrelated note, I used to have issues editing my videos using the Adjust Duration feature. Then I found out about Split and I've never gone back. I used to be able to Adjust Duration on my desktop, but not my laptop. I don't have the desktop anymore to see if the difference is the laptop.

Is there a known reason, and hopefully fixable, that the Extract Image feature is not working?

I am using Roxio 7. Thanks.

I did both. I assume by your post that there is a conflict? Anyway around it without rolling back? I installed them a while ago. I can't do a system restore because of other later installs. Can I uninstall those programs? Roxio doesn't have a fix?

Yes, both break EMC 7x. The only solution is to get rid of them (or pay for the newest version of EMC which I hear may also have some problems). There are instructions all over the board about uninstalling. Word is that IE 7 is easier to roll back than WMP 11 which is more complicated.

The instructions on how to uninstall IE 7 are pinned to the top of this message forum...

One other question.... have you ever been able to use the Extract Image on the laptop? Sometimes this a problem with the video card.

No, I just tried to extract an image for the first time and I have never been successful. I have an Averatec 3715. Not sure what my video card is. I looked in Device Manager, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Go here and download this handy little program http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

then get back on here with the video card info.

Looks like this is what my card is: Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM). This is under the Multimedia.

Display says:

VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP [Display adapter]

Default Monitor

Digital Flat Panel (1024x768) [Monitor] (19.7"vis, January 2002)

Even if you update the drivers for that video chipset (which I believe may work ok with EMC 7/7.5), you are still going to continue having issues unless you uninstall IE 7. It is not compatible with EMC 7/7.5.
