Easy Audio Sync Solution Possibility

Lanaki

Question

Aloha!

I am posting to this thread a solution for audio sync problems that I found on the EMC9 thread. I have both EMC7 and 9 and this solution worked very well for 7 in a production I finally was able to complete.

It seems that while rendering, the graphics card in the computer might take over the encoding from the software. The evidence shows if you watch the files during the rendering process and see the MPEG graphic pop up from time to time. Here's the easy solution as posted by Kenn. Simply place a blank text line in the timeline.

This fools the computer into relying totally on the software to do the encoding rather than your graphics card.

Open your production's timeline, prior to rendering, and click the add text box above. Drag and drop any style of text down to the timeline's text line. The text window will open. Backspace out the default text to leave it blank. You will then see a text line running the entire length of your production. I place my text into the storyline on the appropriate frames so there is no conflict. This simple procedure solved hours of frustration for me and I am so gratreful for Kenn's suggestion. Hope this helps you too!

For the first time I noticed the audio was off with one of my home movies. I added a few lines of subtitles throught the 45 minute movie. When I rendered the file the MPEG graphic was poping up from time to time. At least now I know what the original issue was.

I finally saw an mpg graphic pop up when I was RERENDERING a video. I think it does this when it captures previously rendered portions of the file.

The only solution that I found that works is discussed in this thread. It not only syncs the audio; it also gets rid of the little hiccups that are causing the out-of-sync problem in the first place.

I was pretty excited when I read this suggestion as audio sync has been a problem. But I just tried this on a 24 minute video and it didn't solve the sync problem. By the end of the show, the audio was off by possibly seconds - it was a real mess. :) Oh well . . .

aloha sisterscape,

did you render your production from VideoWave? if so, did you watch the window as you were rendering? if so, did you see the MPEG graphic pop up during the process?

is this a production you put together from scratch or something captured from the tv or dvd?
