Cinemasteraudio.dll for WMP 10; MyDVD vs DVD Decoder Pack

IraGrollman

Question

WMP10 will not play MPEG-2 based DVD's without a codec, such as installed by Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack.

Sonic MyDVD V9 Studio Premier requires that you remove Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack before installing Studio premier which installs a file that crashes WMP 10. The identified file is Cinemasteraudio.dll; internal version is 4.1.1.60. The following procedure fixes the problem; Cinemasteraudio.dll version 2.5.4.1414 is installed by Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack.

If installed, remove Sonic MyDVD V9 Studio Premier and then Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack.

If you're paranoid, verify that C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\ does not contain Cinemasteraudio.dll or Cinemastervideo.dll. If there is, good luck finding out who installed them.

Reinstall Sonic MyDVD V9 Studio Premier.

Open a command window

start->run

cmd

in the command window type

c:

cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\

regsvr32 /u Cinemasteraudio.dll

regsvr32 /u Cinemastervideo.dll

exit

create a sub-folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\problem\

move those files into the newly created sub-folder.

install your Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1 and MPEG-2 playbacks such as DVD's should work again.

Here is a zip file with all the file types I use to verify correct operation of WMP. Most of these come from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992; a few I cobbled together.

Apply the fix for DivX if you use it, titled "HowTo fix both DivX and EMC 9"; last found at
