Windoze Won't Install Update 7.1.1.189?

I received Roxio Easy Media Creator 7, Basic DVD Edition and Basic VCD Edition, with a Plextor DVD burner. When I check with Roxio for updates, update 7.1.1.189 Retail Update comes up, after download, Windoze will not install it. Probably cuz I don't have a retail version. Should I get the full version or ECMC8?

If the version you have is working ok, leave it alone (if it ain't broke don't update). If you are having problems with your OEM version from Plextor check with them for any updates.

As for ECM 8, only you can make that call, it all depends on what you want to do with it, if you do decide to go that route make sure that your existing system meets the minimum requirements.

doktorqandalf: My personal suggestion is to get the retail version of EMC 8. And I think your suggestion that Roxio's update for 7.1.1.189 ENU is for the retail version only, is correct. And from previous posts, I have read that the OEM version that comes with one of the optical drives when you buy it, will NOT do everythng that the same retail version will. If your OEM version of EMC 7 won't do something you want to do, I'm pretty sure that the retail version of EMC 8 WILL. However, some of the EMC 8 gurus that frequent this forum can give you the straight information on that, depending on what you are wanting to do.
