WayneW
I am running Vista Ultimate RTM (32 bit) and EMC 9 is not working for me. When the OS Loads I get an error that Sonic Solutions Driver is incompatible and has been blocked.
Beerman
Officially - No it is not. We're hoping to see a patch or something soon. With that said, I had no problem with it on the 32bit version of Vista beta. I think that most software is having trouble with 64bit Vista, too. This is a known issue. http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=16858
Martin Dekker
Officially - No it is not. We're hoping to see a patch or something soon. Hi Guys, I don't want to start this whole war over again... but also this time I understand the confusion. If you read this official Roxio kb message: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20I...mation/000004GN It clearly states that EMC9 is currently running on Vista and no word about any patch. Again, again and again: I appreciate all you guru guys input and your devotion and even your hesitation for Vista... but I can imagine more questions from users about EMC9 Vista support when Roxio keeps on stating Vista compatibility for EMC9. Tnx for your understanding. Martin PS I hope I was carefull enough this time. If I offended someone in any way: my appologies, I didn't mean to do that. gi7omy
The problem is that MS fired up patches that changeds the way things worked. There was supposed to be a patch out addressing some issues with EMC9 that also occured in XP. Unfortunately, MS did their usual and changed things in Vista so the patch would have been ineffective and is still being worked on. If things had stayed as they were, then it would have worked - regrettably they didn't

Tnx, this is good news... not only to Vista users, but also to XP users It would be worthwhile to change the KB text in that case though, just to prevent confusion. gi7omy
Just a matter of waiting I suppose The main problem with Vista is more of an annoyance really (it seems that one of the MS patches screwed things up a bit and the DLA driver warning notice started to appear. I think it's some incompatibilty between the patch and Drag to Disc but, not running Vista, I can't be certain (and I don't run D2D either)

So... MS improved compatibility with EMC 7.5 LOL (believe it or not, it's in the list). Martin

philottewell
I've been using EMC9 on Vista since before Christmas (I got Vista via my MSDN subscription). It is running on a Dell Dimension 8200 with and NVidia FX5200 graphics card, Creative Labs Soundblaster Live audio card, 1.5G of memory and a 2.4GHz processor. No problems at all - and much more stable than EMC8 was on XP. I also have TiVo, and use EMC9 to take my home videos and convert to MPG2 files. I can then view my "works in progress" by downloading to my Tivo. One tip - if you have EMC8 on Windows XP and plan to upgrade (rather than clean install) Vista, make sure you uninstall EMC8, and any other programs which may not be compatible, before upgrading. Better yet backup all your user files, mail and bookmarks, then do a clean install and reimport everything that you need, then install EMC9. - Phil
