Time Warner Customers w/ TiVo & TiVoToGo

dddnlb

Question

I had read (I can't remember which of the various TiVo forums it was) that someone had said they were talking to their TimeWarner tech during an install who told him that TW Cable was blocking access to TiVOs from the network because they wanted peole to upgrade to the HD boxes with an ethernet port.

DOes this even make sense? How could they do that given that their cable boxes have nothing to do with the network or the TiVo?

I didn't think much of this report until today when I installed a new TiVo only to discover that even though it can see and communicate with my home network, it won't connect to my Music and Photos (the other TiVo I have does just fine) and my TiVoToGo software will not see the new box even though it sees my other TiVo just fine . . . and what makes me think there is something to the report? Well, the one that CAN be seen by TiVoToGO and will get my Music and Photos just hapesn to be an HD box with the ethernet cable port and the one that doesn't is just a basic cable box.

So is this just a coincidence? ARe there other TW cable customers out there and what has your exerience been with TiVOToGo and hitting the home network?
