Burning Troubles

When I go to the Options menu, I assume that the setting would be under the "General" or "Encoding" Tab, however, I did not see anything even remotely close to Changing the TV Aspect Ratio. Unless it is named differently, or in another part of MyDVD, I can't find it.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Well, if you're getting 16:9 output, I'm guessing you must have one of the Deluxe versions of the Digital Media Studio Suites based on this page. If you can't find the options by just going thru the menus, the only other suggestions I can offer is to open up the help files and search for it there and/or contact Sonic/Roxio support (should be able to thru email or livechat by way of the support links). We don't see many of our fellow users posting about this version, but maybe one eill come along at some point that has the product and can offer some help.

MyDVD 6 (all versions) can burn 4:3 or 16:9. There is no option to select one or the other, it does so based on the file.

If your file is an MPEG2 file, 720x480 and is being burned in 16:9 this means that the file has somehow acquired a 16:9 flag. It must be removed and there are programs online that can place and remove flags. These programs are usually not from the most credible developers so I'll leave finding them up to you.

If your file is some other format such as AVI then I'm assuming that your file is not the standard 720x480 pixels aspect ratio. MyDVD is analyzing your file (incorrectly) and assuming that given the pixel aspect ratio that you're trying to create a movie in 16:9. The file could also have a flag in place to force 16:9.

How do you fix it? Reencode your file to a more compatible format or aspect ratio. Since you want to lose as little quality as possible I would recommend downloading a program like TMPGenc and having it convert to a standard MPEG2. This way MyDVD won't reencode it (unless you edit) so you won't lose quality and the end result will look the best it can. This extra step may add some time but you don't have many other options.
