Overlay video

Nifty999

Question

Hi , a very basic question I know but I can't work out how to do this. I have a video which is just someone speaking - very boring to watch. I want to keep the audio track in place but overlay segments with video from a different part of the same production. How do I move segments of video around while keeping audio in place?

If your video didn't import with 'scenes', you're going to have to either automatically or manually 'scene detect' to get smaller portions of the video.

Switch to the Collections View (the blue book). Then right click on the video in the Media Selector and choose 'scene detect'. Either let the program automatically detect the scenes (quicker) or play the movie and select the scenes yourself.

Then drag and drop the 'scene' onto the Overlay track in the Timeline View. You can adjust where the scene starts and stops the overlay in the Edit feature.

Aha - thank you very much! So simple after so much fiddling around

You're welcome. I must admit that I had to dig around in my bag of tricks to remember how to do this. :)

If you get stuck, please ask again.
