gordon_harris0
Previously I posted a problem with display, first the windows system shut down with a warning and the next couple of times the video display reverted to 800x600 res. with color quality of 4 bit and each time I had to reboot the system. The last time the system shut down I copied some info and it said there was a problem with the file "nv4_disp.dll" a display driver. I've been to NVIDIA.com to download an updated driver but am not sure if I actually downloaded it or not....it seems to have disappeared. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. asandull
Hi all… I just recently purchased EMC8 and I received the same error. This was the exact error: The Nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work reboot system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine dialog will be displayed to upload data about this failure to Microsoft. Well, I upgraded to EMC8 because my previous software is a dinosaur… But I really miss it now because I’m lost!!! I’ve had a few errors in the past week but I haven’t really gotten into a project yet, I’ve just been testing out the features…I’m looking for a lot of the basic features in the program and am already having a hard time… Please post your outcome! Thanks, Angela
sknis
Hi, Angela. Did you download and install the latest drivers for your nVidia card? New ones were posted Feb 7, 2006. Make sure it is for your board and read the notes. You must download the drivers to the place of your choice (note the file name), then delete the previous drivers using add/remove programs and only then (after a couple of reboots) install the new drivers. Deleting the old drivers and installing the new will help if any of the old drivers are corrupted. Yes, the program does change the way things are done and sometimes don't make sense especially if you have used a previous version. It is almost forget what you knew before you start with this. As I suggested in another post, it is better if you start a new thread for your questions rather than to amend to an existing thread. I applaud you for searching for answers but if you can't find one that fits exactly, start a new thread. Also, go to my controls and edit your signature to include the important information on your computer (see some of the signatures to see what is important to be posted.) If you are not sure about your computer, download the free Belarc Advisor and it will list a lot of information on your computer - including things you did not know. There seems to be numerous issues with your computer. It is near impossible to fix those issues over the internet. If you have a friend who is somewhat a techy, you should ask them to lend you a hand to resolve those issues. If I was close by, I would stop by and help.
