Thanks for the update Gary. One question however--The time before when you posted the change, I had to go to a slightly different type of download rather than the one that just says "download", but I can't remember what it was.

Do I really need it?

I'm working just fine with the last update, last month.

What will I gain?

Just curious.............................

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't even do the update from last month! You know . . . if it works, don't fix it! :)

Who knows? It was only a small 140K download for me. Hard telling what MS is doing. LOL

Frank - DirectX requires validation so use IE6. You can use another browser, but you have to jump through a few hoops.

I used Firefox - but got it from here instead

I get that part Gary. What I was thinking about was the last one several of us downloaded, we didn't see any change in the version and date, as I remember. So I think it was Jess that posted something about going to a different screen and downloading from a different path. Not a biggie---But was curious.

I downloaded the DirectX Redist. I think that is what we had to do last time, instead of the first one on list.

Yes, it was me Frank. This was about updating DirectX but files shown in the dxdiag did not indicate any updated files at all. Hence, I ended up downloading a huge file (I forgot the file name) and installed it.

I tried downloading this latest DirectX but again the files shown in dxdiag do not show any new files at all. What gives?

Frank, let us know if your files get updated.

Edit: Here is the thread we are talking about.

You're right Bruce !! :)

Jess: I downloaded the DirectX Redist download and ran it. You have to pick a folder where you want to download all the files. Then after they are unzipped, I ran that exe file and now when I go to DXDIAG and check the directX file tab and look at the Microsoft listings I see whre the date has been changed to Feb 2007.

I ran it from the MS site and checked dxdiag. I see no diferences at all in file dates or even the version number under system.
