Cannot capture videos

loizok

Question

I have used this software for a year now and have had excellant results making many DVDs from a Sony camcorder. Just now I cannot capture video from the camcorder. I click on capture and everything freezes up. I have to use cont-alt-delete to escape the problem. Should I reinstall Easy media creator?

Thanks for the quick reply. No I haven't install IE because I've read that there are a lot of problems with it. I also have not installed Windows Media Player 11. This problem is baffleing me because the software worked fine till now. I have made many DVDs captured from my Sony camcorder in the year I've had the software. I'm not sure if I want to uninstall and reinstall the software for fear of looseing all the clips I've saved on my hard drive.

I'd be tempted to check on anything that may have been installed recently - even MS updates. If you can pin something down to having been installed round the time the problem occured, that could be the answer

Regarding your clips - you could try to copy them to a new folder out of the way and then do a clean uninstall and re-install (the back up folder won't be in the Roxio path so it shouldn't be touched)

Read the posts on clean uninstall and use the mS Clean up Util to make sure it's gone and then re-install.

As I said, it shouldn't hit any of your files but no harm in a backup copy elsewhere on the drive (even if you zip them up)
