16:9 vs 4:3 making it work letterbox on both TV's

Question

Sorry...by mistake I posted this question on the Tips board first.

Ok, here is the deal. I have been all worked up about building a video with my new 16:9 camera and now that I have successfully made a movie for my widescreen TV I noticed it "scrunches" the picture on my other TV (4:3). How can I get the movie I made to show 16:9 with a black bar top and bottom so I don't get the ratios all messed up?

In other words, is there a way to make a 16:9 video show in 16:9 on both sets?

Thanks!

Pam

MyDVD outputs anamorphic widescreen - meaning that the 'black bars' are not encoded in the video. This works great for a newer widescreen TV set. For this to display correctly on older 4:3 TVs, it is a function of the DVD PLAYER. Using the DVD player remote, go to setup. There should be an option for: Letterbox, pan/scan and Widescreen. Make sure the DVD player is set for 'letterbox'.

Thanks! I will go check out my DVD player.
