Using Easy Audio Capture

Sport

Question

Can't seem to capture audio from the integrated sound card on a Dell Dimension E520, using Easy Audio Capture. The SigmaTelAudio card is shown as the 'Capture From' with 'Line In' selected. I'm wondering if the problem lies with the sound card being integrated with the mother board. Any ideas?

There have been a multitude of posts where folks who have an integrated audio can't capture audio. The advice is to get a dedicated audio card.

On-board sound chipsets do have problems, but did you check that the line in settings in the volume control properties aren't muted?

Check if a line in feed can be picked up by windows sound recorder.

If it still doesn't work, any sound card shopuld do the trick for you

Thanks to all who replied to my query. I neglected to say that capture of audio from a stereo system or TV was no problem. Just encountered the problem when trying to capture audio from Websites, email, etc. You've convinced me the problem stems from the lack of a dedicated sound card. Thanks again for your ideas!

When you say capture audio from web sites, do you mean streaming audio? If so that is not using line in. You may however have the option to record 'what you hear'

If it is an onboard card, there won't be the option "what you hear". I am not certain, but I believe that the "what you hear" option is only available on a dedicated Creative audio card. That is what shows on my Audigy2 card, but I don't have it on my backup machine, which I have onboard audio enabled.
