Picture Word Files That Came Out On Disc As Tiny Rectangles

john_d_miller

Question

YIKES!

This was a surprise because I've other such Word files in My Documents) which I transferred to a CD (with, in this case, ECDC 5.2) and they came out as intended...as pictures. But 4 such Word files that I had safely on floppies and which I transferred to my HD before burning to the CD, came out (both in My Documents and on the CD. (I had not checked the floppy-to-My Documents transfer before I burned them to the CD.) Fortunately, they are still preserved on the floppy. THAT was a relief!

My question is what went wrong--why did it work with ECDC 5.2 but not with EMC 7.5, my current program? I used Creaor Classic to select my files from My Documents and to do the burning. Other picture Word files with this burning came out quite OK.

I guess I should ask what are possible causes of the Word picture files coming out as rectangles?

I should also like to ask, just so I know, when I put my burned disc in my CD-ROM and look at the contents, are those contents transferred to my HD for me to view or are they called up when I select a given picture? What happens that I can observe is that I put the disc in the CD-ROM drive and go My Computer > E drive and on the monitor there appears my 8 or 10 folders in which I've files stored. And this is when I click folders and pictures.

I guess that you have to find out why the pictures aren't there, on you hard drive files, when transferred to the hard drive, from the floppy. If they don't transfer properly from the floppy, to the hard drive, then they sure aren't going to change when you burn them to a CD, from the hard drive.

Are you saying that when you open the files on the cd or in My documents that there is no picture, or there is no picture when you are looking at them thru Windows Explorer?

When I opened the Word files on the CD I got pages of tiny black-outlined rectangles about 1/8" x 1/8" for each and every Word file. When I went to My Documents and clicked on the same Word files there, I got the same result. There was no picture in either instance.
