Question

I am trying compile and burn a movie.

1. I have added my selections in the video compilation

2. I chose DVD as my format

3. Output to Disc/Disc Image

4. Press Burn

5. Disc Copier Burn Set Up appears

It reads D:TSST corp DVD +- RW TS-L632D - DE03

Blank DVD+R, Free space: 8.0gb (Insert Disc)

I cannot get the ok button to proceed with the burn. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

David

I wonder why that the thread I posted on cdfreaks that was showing the different read and write spec's for that drive, didn't include DVD+R DL ?? I'm sure the spec's that Walt shows is correct though.

The OP (David) suggested that he was using "Memorex" DL media and I wonder if that could be a problem. I have never had ANY luck period, with Memorex media.

How do you input a screen capture to the forum board? I will show you what I am refering to.

Thanks,

David

You'd need to link it to a web page but I can't see what a screen shot will do to help here. The drive can only write to +R dual layer, but there are bad reports on it in other fora. It seems to be very problematic and should be replaced

Do a Google search for ImgBurn Current version: 2.2.0.0

Released: 13th February 2007 and try to burn your 6.75gig file in test mode at 2.4X, That is the only speed I see for the RITEK D01 (001) media. Last weeks Sony +R DL Best Buy add, were the same RITEK D01 (001) media 2.4X.

Isn't that the same website thread that had shown in my reply (post #13) on this thread, Daithi ??. That thread per the poster did not show that drive as being DL.

Frank...

These are the specs shown on the Dell site for that burner:(TS-L632D - DE03), the DE03 may be the firmware number.

All,

I have saved the files to my dvd folder and am trying to burn the movie to a DL DVD. The file is 132 min. long and 6.75 gb in size.

The blank Memorex DVD+R DL is label indicates the disc is 8.5gb and capable 240 min of video.

I don't not understand I have have to compress it. Disc copier indicates that it should fit on the dvd. I just can get th ok to proceed with the burn.

Is it possible to post a print screen on the message board to show you what I am seeing?

Help please?

Thanks,

David

OK - so let's look at this from a different angle

How long (in time) is your production? It's possible that, when rendered, it will be too big for the DVD. In general, single layer will hold about 1 hour of video and dual layers about 1 hour 50 (they're not quite double the capacity of single layer). This is at best quality btw.

What can be done in the case of single layer is to make an image file on the hard drive firsat - then open that with disc copier which will compress it to fit (with a loss of quality). I don't know if this will work with dual layer discs or not but you could try and do the render and see how large the resultant file actually is - then try to send that to the disc with Disc Copier

gi7omy-

The movie is 132 minutes long. I do not wish to compress it onto a 4.7gb disc. My goal is to keep the file the same as the original.

If you shoot me an email at xxxx I can send you a screen shot of my problem.

Thanks,

David

A 132 minute file will not fit on a DL DVD without compression. The only way to keep the file the same as the original would be to spread your project across 2 DL DVDs

It would be a good idea to remove your e-mail address from your post unless you want to receive a lot of spam e-mail.
