jthornt1
1. Installed Creator9 on well-behaved DELL/XP-Pro unit. Discovered application had killed my ability to burn CDs/DVDs. 2. Tried an uninstall/re-install revcover path. Un-install failed first time (and threw up C library errors). Had to repeat the process, finally achieving what I thought was success. 3. After uninstall completed, found that Windows ability to create DVDs/CDs was dead. Creator9 had blasted the OS capability. 4. Then tried various means to get to Roxio support. No luck or no response. Gave up. Re-installed Windows to recover capability. Now have OS capability. 5. Finally talked to support (via long chat). Suggested I needed to do a 'clean install'. Told resource that the install should search for conflicts and warn before creating an issue. 6. Dumping Roxio. All I can say is... wow. And don't buy it. jthornt1
jthornt1
Actually, googling this thing, Cr9 has a horrific installation reputation. Install issues have people causing and fussing all over the place. Most folks don't expect to have to have a degree in a technology before doing tasked installation. Just read the DOC: there are no warnings about conflict issues on the installation page and the install does not adequately check. Most Windows installation tasking is far beyond what has been done here: the product gets an F on documentation, and an F for the installation script. These failures, I'm sure, have created a support crisis for the company (which explains why it is difficult to get through).
gi7omy
Actually if you take the number of posts here for help and divide that by the TOTAL s/w sold by Sonic and Roxio, it's not that many who do have problems What we get here are the few who do - if we can we'll try to help but we really need to know what the problem is. In quite a few cases, it's not down to EMC at all but external sources There are problems caused by MS updates, problems caused by WMP11 and IE7 - those couldn't be foreseen when the program was released If you are having a problem, tell us what it is along with your system specs and we'll see what can be done to help

It's more than likely that you Dell's pre-installed software had a packet writing program installed like EMC's Drag to Disc and it's a widely known fact that 2 packet writing programs cannot exist together on a system or problems like yours are likely to occur. grandpabruce
It is also a widely know fact that the OS has problems when installing or uninstalling any burning software, and the fix for it is relatively easy. Hindsight is 20-20 on you not reading before acting.
John at Roxio
I agree with the above 2 posts, nevermind the thousands of people that purchase the software that we never even hear from since it is working properly for them.

I have used ever Easy Media Creator since # 5 (6, 7, 7.5, 8 and now 9) but I am removing it and going to Nero and I will never buy another Roxio/Sonic product again and i will encourage all those that i know to do the same!!!!! gi7omy
Let me see - you make ONE post, moan about problems - then totally omit to say WHAT problems you have. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't you think you're sort of missing the point by posting a pure rant to a USERS' forum?
