Datecode issues continued

Xyzzy

Question

I've filled a support ticket with improvement suggestion regarding displaying datecode somewhere in WV/ media manager. I wrote that because of lack of datecode info I have to use another program to capture, which is true.

And what answer did I get?

"You have told us your issue has not been solved. Thank you for using Roxio Self Service"

THIS IS DISGUSTING :) No- "we'll consider that" or "thank you for your suggestion" or "we'll forward your request to appropriate person". Just "you happened to find a workaround, so just sod off" or "don't try to know better what you want" (and, even worse, it looks to me that my suggestion went to nowhere).

And no, Roxio, my issue hasn't been solved. There's real usability problem with one of EMC components. And this is the reason I cannot use it for my purpose, which is nothing beyond basic usage.

ggrussell & others superusers, maybe you suggestion would get a better attention? I think there's common agreement on usefulness of access to basic datecode data.

It is a good idea and has been suggested many times. Like I've posted before, I don't know of any consumer software that does this. Some say that WMM2 does, but it doesn't for me. If any other software has this feature, I certainly haven't seen it or heard of it. I still wish that I could do that IN the camcorder. At least have the ability to turn it on and off.

It is an automated response. We dont have a customized auto-response for every single possible submission. We read your feedback, thanks for submitting it. And dont take everything as a personal insult.

I am sorry for the turmoil then, good that my vote was forwarded further.

Just the response was unexpected for me, as a reply to a feature suggestion (and led to, in fact, overreaction).

Another lesson to learn - don't try to discuss with robots :)

OK, so now it's at least good to know this has been reported before by you.

It's getting on my nerves also because this deficiency cuts me off of MY data. I capture video, sound and metadata (here- datecodes). I have access to video and sound, why not to metadata?

Why this useful feature is not present in EMC is beyond my comprehension, especially considering how simple it is to add it (and yes, I know what I am saying).

As for other consumer-level software- VideoStudio displays overlayed datecode when replaying original clip in project, since version 9. I haven't used others lately.

Maybe it's beating a dead horse, but in hope that odour gets attention of some nostrils at last.
