RECORDING PROBLEMS

KAZ

Question

Hello its me again :D I succesfully completed a video/slideshow and burned this on a dvd+ rewritable disc and works fine when playing this on the dvd :D. Having checked this out i thought i would burn this on dvd+ format so i can send to friends and family,So i go into discopier, copy my production. I then play this on my dvd, it plays alright for 2 minutes then freezez :) and thats it  Why does this happen? Do i need to save a file image first then burn this or what? Please advise. Many thanks.

Save to Image file.

Burn Image in Disc Copier or Creator Classic. (I prefer Creator Classic as I can turn the burn speed down to 4X).

Use an RW disc to try out on your commercial DVD player to check.

Burn Image onto -R discs using Copier or Classic. These discs are read by the majority of DVD players. A lot of players don't like +R discs.

Many thanks for that, why does this do this? Is it how Roxio likes it?

The problems you are talking about are typically related to your burner and the quality of the blank discs you buy. DVD minus discs are more universal; DVD plus discs were a brain child of Sony (I think) and not all early players were designed to play them. But older players seem more tolerant to playing discs with small burn errors or format errors. If you are interested read about and check the disc and your burner using DVD Info Pro (home page applications). It will tell you a lot about your burner and the burned disc.

Also update the firmware for your burner. Be very careful and follow the instructions carefully. It is a little more complex that updating hardware drivers and has more negative consequences if you screw up.

I have not tried Nero lately but I might guess that Nero (version?) might be more like EMC 7/7.5. Those versions ran great on marginal specification computers. V8 and V9 uses a different rendering scheme and requires a lot more from your computer and video card.. Don't take this as a Nero bash or a bash on your computer; I'm just guessing.

Kaz, please post your computer specs in your signature so that that information is always available. Near the top of the post is My Control, click on that and then look down to the left to select edit signature. Look at some of the other signatures to see what kinds of things that should be included. You can use your purchase information to get this information or download the free Belarc Advisor. It will give you a lot of information on your computer. You may also want to print off the results for future reference.

Thankyou, will do, hope you are not upset for me for praising about a different software, when i purchased Roxio 9 i had a choice from nero, i chose Roxio because i think it has got a lot to offer, beacuse the software does have its hiccup's thats what lets this potential software down, i for a fact know this could improve and i hope they do this on the next Roxio version, i hope you agrre with me on this, but thanks for the info. :)
