DVD Builder. Titles

Glyn

Question

Can any body help? Although I have in the past successfully used DVD builder it has been some while since I last used it. I tried last night.

I could not make any titles. If I clicked on the 'Add New Title' option in the 'Add Content' box I was transferred as expected to my pictures. I could select a picture but on clicking on 'Add' I was taken back to the main DVD Builder page but nothing else happened. No title was made. If I clicked on the 'Add Title' option again, nothing happened at all. Further clicking on 'Add title' made no difference.

If I tried to make a title using the drop down menu 'DVD Menu' and clicked on 'Add new title', I was sent to 'Add Media to project' page, but if I then chose a picture and clicked 'add' I immediately got the Microsoft(?) message 'DVD Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience' 'If you were in the middle...................................'

The error signature read 'App Name: dvdbuilder7exe' AppVer: 7.1.0.189 ModName; dxtrans.dll

ModVer: 7.0.5730.11 Offset: 0000d07f'

Any ideas as to how to overcome this would be gratefully received.

Regards

Microsoft's instructions on how to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 are located here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927177

Not being able to Add Titles in DVD Builder is usually the result of having Internet Explorer installed as a 'critical update' by Microsoft.

Also, if you have Easy Media Creator 7, you'll be able to create your production more easily if you use VideoWave which is part of EMC7.

I have IEv7 as well, but I have Vista and it has bugs. :glare: For instance, uninstalling programs from the uninstall list in the control panel doesn't do anything except remove the program from the list. The program is still on my computer!! I've searched microsoft.com but couldn't find anything. How do I get IE off a Vista-running computer??
On Vista you don't as that is what is included as the browser. Removing IE 7 to get EMC 7/7.5 to work only applies to XP systems. To get EMC to work on Vista, you need to get the latest version (EMC 9) as EMC 7/7.5 is not compatible with Vista. You can check out the trial version of EMC 9 if you are interested.

Same problem. If the issue is IE7, yes it is installed. Any solution or do we just scrap our Roxio software?

You most definitely have IE 7 installed, and as James advised, get rid of it.

Also, get rid of WMP 11 too, if you have installed it. Roll back to WMP 10, or better yet, WMP 9.

Thanks to all of you who identified that I had installed IE 7. I haven't got around to uninstalling it yet. No doubt I will be yell 'Please help me again' if it doesn't work.

Excuse my ignorance but what is WMP?

Thanks again to all of you.

I'd suggest that you scrap IE7 because it breaks more software than the Roxio software.

If you want to keep IE7, then you need to upgrade to version 9.

WMP = Windows Media Player

Keep us informed.

I have now removed IE7, am back with IE 6 and although I have only just opened DVD Builder and clicked on 'Add new title' it worked again.

Many thanks again f0r your help.

I have checked and I am still on WMP 9.

I am curious how you all knew what my problem was. Have I been remis in not reading enough or is the problem and solution well know (somehow?)

Thanks again
