mondschain
Hi everyone. I am looking for a new Monitor and dont know much about monitors. I need a Monitor which is good for video and photo work ( roxio 7 and 9 ). I like widescreen Monitors and so far like -BenQ FP222W 22-in. LCD Monitor -Acer® AL2216Wbd 22-in. LCD Monitor -LG 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (L226WT) -LG 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor (L204WT) Now they all seem kind of the same to me only the LG seems to have more constrast ratio if that even makes a difference ? Anyone who knows more about these Monitors or any other suggestion I would much appreciate any help. Thank you

gi7omy
Same difference - one is a reciprocal of the other really
marlinsinger
Take a look at the newest Gateways. They have them in 22 and 24" I used to have an Apple HDCinema. The Gateway blew it away as far as picture quality and didn't have any dead pixels like the Apple. Also you can pick them up at Best Buy.
ggrussell
You can buy Gateways in many places. I think Circuit City sells Gateway, too, and maybe CompUSA. I've always been partial to Samsung LCDs.

I've always been partial to Samsung LCDs. Office Depot has been having a few sales lately on Gateways that office some exclusive things but I don't know what that would be. I picked up one for our office recently and got an upgrade to a 19" monitor and $150 rebate and still had XP on it.
mondschain
Thank you guys for your reply .... I am in Canada though have to check on the gateway... I didnt have the best experence in the past either with gateway or samsung. All the Monitors seem to be the same just the contrast is different.... what does the contrast do? All of the Monitors have 700:1 but the LG has 2000:1. Would this make any difference? Nadinie
tbrewst
Nadinie,I looked this up: Contrast is the difference in visual properties that makes an object (or its representation in an image) distinguishable from other objects and the background. In visual perception of the real world, contrast is determined by the difference in the color and brightness of the object and other objects within the same field of view. Because the human visual system is more sensitive to contrast than absolute luminance, we can perceive the world similarly regardless of the huge changes in illumination over the day or from place to place. gi7omy
In Television terms - contrast is the gradual change from black to white on a monochrome (B/W) picture so in monitor terms it's basically a good grey scale with smooth transition from pure black to pure white - the higher value, the smoother the change
