Crash on Save

Gatekat

Question

I just got a new computer, a duel-core 3GH with Windows Media Edition. The video card is an ATI All-In-Wonder PRO.

When trying to edit video (with VideoWave9), I get a series of errors with do not appear in a search here, but I am allowed to continue working. When I try to save the file, I do not get an error message (other than the generic windows one about a crash) but VideoWave9 crashes. It does not completely close, though I can not do anything.

The errors I get are:

".\IPBase.ccp(1106):*** Error NULL = pCompositor.p"

(when first loading VideoWave). Clicking OK allows me to continue.

"Could not create the render object. This might be caused by DirectX 9.0 not being installed or the display adapter not fully supporting DirectX 9.0."

(When I try to load a file to edit. Click OK and I can continue. I downloaded and installed DirectX 9 to make sure it was not the issue and updated my video card drivers just in case as well.)

Error box with no message.

(after I edit the begining/end point on the file. Click OK and it continues)

".\IPBase.ccp(1106):*** Error NULL = pCompositor.p"

(right after I click OK. Click OK again and I can continue on)

Crash with no message except the default Windows one.

(when I click on 'Save As')

Creator9 does not crash/shut down, just VideoWave9.

Does anyone have an idea on what I can do to fix this?

If you have installed the latest card drivers and Direct X try a "Repair Install".

IPBase errors are usually a browser or modem error - (ip = Internet Protocol)

To me that looks like something external to EMC which is causing the problem - Googling for it threw up references to ISPs - Conexus, RoadRunner, etc and also as a java error
