sknis
I'm not sure that these are compelling reasons to go out and fork out the money to upgrade. You may have to register to watch.
Larry
What!? It doesn't come with a case of aspirin for all the headaches it will cause? I would've thought that would be a good #1 reason.

Those are supposed to be "compelling reasons" to buy Vista?
REDWAGON
Yeah, I'm like Daithi in that I want to hear his reasons NOT to buy Vista !!! To me all the reasons he mentioned was just a little fancier way to get what XP already does. Frank...
gi7omy
Hey - maybe those were the reasons not to buy it
Beerman
Maybe, just maybe if you are a Media Center user, you could say the it's improved in Vista. Widgets? Give me a break. You can get them already for XP and who really wants them? Search? I've tried Google desktop and MS's desktop search and they work just as well. The only other possible but very small bragging point is the file system which the masses won't notice anyway.
d_deweywright
Those are supposed to be "compelling reasons" to buy Vista? What new File System are they talking about? I thought it still uses NTFS, and the new file system they were going to include originally got dropped and will arrive sometime "later"?
ggrussell
IT IS NOT a new 'file system', but rather a new way to present the same file system. All they did is drop the old DOS C:\ in representing the paths WHICH I HATE. The user has NO IDEA where the data is really stored and i'm really picky about that. I suppose it's fine for those with little experience (and Mac users) and those with only one drive. Personally, I like KNOWING exactly where my files are stored. For me, the title of that video could have been '5 no good reason to buy Vista'.

Is there somewhere I can see a snapshot of the new "view"? Sounds like just another reason not to get Vista.
Beerman
It's not that bad once you get use to it. I use MyComputer more than Explorer but I don't feel the file system is a bragging point in Vista. It's not what I think about when using Vista. PCMag has some info on it. I can email you more screen shots if you want to see them.......but only if you're very bored.
