Need Sonic Solutions Driver

mishman

Question

Help! In trying to completely uninstall EMC8, I removed the drivers pxhelp20.sys and drvmcdb.sys from my drivers folder (without removing the references from my registry). Now XP will not even boot. A blue screen appears momentarily and then it begins the boot process all over. It appears that the only way to restore Windows without doing a reinstall is to replace these drivers. I found pxhelp20.sys on my installation disk and managed to replace that one using the Windows Restore option. I cannot find the other driver, however. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of this driver or if there is any other solution to this problem?

drvmcdb.sys file information

The process Device Driver or NULLO belongs to the software NULLO by VERITAS Software, Inc (www.veritas.com) or Sonic Solutions (www.sonic.com) or Software Architects, Inc.

Description: drvmcdb.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers - mainly C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ or C:\Program Files\HP DLA\install\. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 88016 bytes (27% of all occurrence), 87488 bytes, 82784 bytes, 84576 bytes, 88352 bytes, 87136 bytes, 78048 bytes, 86160 bytes, 87168 bytes, 87248 bytes, 89264 bytes, 83072 bytes, 85936 bytes, 81552 bytes, 83360 bytes, 76000 bytes, 88080 bytes, 84608 bytes, 85408 bytes, 83104 bytes, 81952 bytes, 86960 bytes, 2944 bytes, 84080 bytes.

The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs. There is no file information. The program has no visible window. The service has no detailed description. The file is not a Windows system file. You can uninstall this program in the control panel. drvmcdb.sys seems to be a compressed file. Therefore the technical security rating is 32% dangerous.

It is associated with the DLA program which is part of the MyDVD Deluxe Suite made by Sonic. It causes intermittently a blue screen crash on boot up. Sonic have advised that they have an upgrade which solves this problem.

It causes xp pro to go BSOD on Bootup.

Sorry, gi7omy. I meant "repair", not "restore." I already used the repair option command prompt to replace the pxhelp20.sys file. My problem is that I can't find the other file (drvmcdb.sys).

If you boot from CD, you can choose a 'repair' option which will bring you to a DOS prompt after selecting the OS

So far I have had no response to my post at the above-mentioned thread. I don't think this file should be too hard to find. Anyone who has EMC8 installed will, I believe, have this driver on their hard drive. It should be under the C:/windows/system32/drivers/ folder. Of course, a simple search for drvmcdb.sys would also show one where it is. Is there anyone who could send me a copy of this file? If so, please post or PM me.
