asdf
I re-installed XP and EZ CD/DVD creator a few days ago. Last night, I update the engine from 6.0.0.xyz to 6.1.1.48. The engine updated fine; however, I cannot update any other components (e.g. creatorupdater.exe). Creatorupdater.exe complaints that it cannot find the installation of the EZCD program. What's gives? Is this a bug? Please help. Thanks a lot.
gi7omy
You may have to uninstall and re-install - the updater should be able to determine the location of the program from the registry entries. I take it that you are manually applying the update patches? However - if you installed IE7 and/or WMP11, that will wreck ECD6

If I roll back to Ie6 and WMP10 (or 9), I'll be able to upgrade, right. After the upgrade EZCD, can I upgrade to IE7 and WMP11? Or the 2 just don't mix at all? Thanks! gi7omy
Those two don't mix with a lot of stuff - just leave them off or they will trash ECD again. They wtreck everything up to EMC8 and are also causing problems with EMC9 and other software. IE7 is a total disaster in XP If you like the idea of a tabbed broswer, give this one a try - Firefox

Uninstall from add/remove programs then run this http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe that should clean anything leftover. Then reinstall from your installation disc. Then see if it works ok, if everything is working you wont need the updates.

IE7 got installed as part of the regular window update. Sigh... I should have blocked it. I tried to "roll" my system back with system restore. That doesn't work. I am sure if I should use Add or Remove Programs Add/Remove Windows Components then delete IE7 and WMP 11 Help. Thanks a lot! Here is the exit message from dvdupdater.exe The udpate utility has been canceld. No qualified roxio product can be detected. What now. (Really appreciate you guys/gals's help.) gi7omy
Oh heck - from here I couldn't tell really. Usually Basic was a cut down OEM version so if you bought it over the counter, it's probably Platinum If the Basic ones aren't working - try the Platinum in case that's what you have

After I installed the platinum engine, everything is smooth sailing from then now. gi7omy: thanks a lot for all your help and support.
