The Trial Version of this Product has Expired

Frank Jamison

Question

I bought and downloaded the EMC 9 Suite.

It worked great when installed on Vista Business...but after I did the Anytime Upgrade to Vista Ultimate, EMC tells me the trial version has expired!!

What's up with that and how do I fix it?

I am going to try an uninstall and reinstall...but any other suggestions are welcome.

Hi again

I reported this error to Roxio and eventually got a reply that has worked for me. I was running Macafee Registry Cleaner every week. I have stoipped running this and have not had the Trial version has ended message since. I hope this helps you other guys. It seems that any form of Registry cleaner will cause this problem. :)

Thanks for posting this. For some people, the message happens after using Norton WinDoctor and deleting the registry entry that WinDoctor finds.

I use Norton WinDoctor (2005 version), and this doesn't happen to me with the regular version of EMC 9, but it does happen with the Deluxe version of EMC 9.

Now that I see it happens with your registry cleaner too, I am convinced it is a bug in the Roxio software, one which I hope is addressed in a patch.

I have the same problem and I am running XP. Perhaps I should just cancel the credit card payment since the product is defective!

I will not re-install on a weekly basis.

I read that Roxio is working on a fix for this. I got the same message with EMC 9 Deluxe, so I just removed it from the computer and went back to the regular EMC 9 and haven't had the problem since. Hopefully, that fix will come soon.

I run Windows XP, too.

I dont know if this will work for others...but it seems to have worked for me.

I went to Add / Remove Progs and selected repair option.

The roxio installation did its stuff...rebooted the machine...and hey presto EMC is working again!

Thanks!! I'll try it! I'm willing to try most anything. Nobody seems to be able to tell me (or anybody else) why this is happening.

Just this week I bought a sony vaio VGN-FE41Z which came with EMC bundled. It was working fine.

I then upgraded the OS from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate.

A number of things broke inc. EMC - Trial period alert now popping up.

I have managed to fix the other issues, but no idea how to tackle the EMC issue.

Reluctant to do a re-install of EMC in case it makes things worse.

Am dreading the response "do a complete restore" - porting everything over from my old XP platform

doing the ultimate upgrade and fixing issues, was the best part of three days work!

<_< Hi, I also have the same problem. I recently bought EMC 9 because my Easy CD Creator 5 created a blue screen on my PC when I tried to re-install it.

I completely re-installed everything on my PC and upgraded to XP Home with SP2.

After about t week I got the "Trial Version has ended" message. Re-installed EMC 9 and used it for another week. Same problem. Found the thread about clean re-install and thought that had worked but I've just got the same "Trial version has ended message" up again after about a week. Do I just keep re-installing every week?

I have the same error message. I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium and have not been able to use the software ever since... despite multiple conversations with Roxio, nothing is fixed... I am very frustrated with the lack of follow up. This should be a priority....

I think that they are working on it. Anything else broken with Vista?
