From: Technical Support: Virtually Non Existent

Tigger59

Question

Roxio's tech support line is open from 8-6 EST Mon-Fri and that stinks if you work in the same time zone and don't get home from work until 5 pm.

I won't use RoxAnn because she's doesn't understand English.

I've tried using the on-line support but have had an issue outstanding since February 10/07.

It's obvious that Roxio doesn't monitor discussion groups. So, if you've got EMC 9 on your computer and can't use it, what can they do for you? Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nothing.

Is there any way to contact someone in Roxio's tech support department on weekends? Evenings? Is it at all possible that someone out there can put me in touch with someone in tech support? I'm not going to repeat all the issues I have with this @%$@%$ program. Check my previous posts (since January 2007) and you'll see how angry I am.

Again, It's been two weeks since I posted my problem with activating the mpeg2 codec, All I get get back is that wer'e looking into it and have some patience. This product is a nonfunctional waste. Try Adobe. They alredy have vista patches.

I'm not running Vista yet nor am I running IE7 or Windows Media Player 11. I have Windows XP Media Center SP2 and it's 100% up-to-date. IE6, also up-to-date. and Media Player 10.

I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only sucker, however, I had no problems with EMC 6 or 7.5. Why is 9 such a royal pain in the a**? And what really p****s me off is that Roxio is totally ignoring us. I bought EMC 9 because I thought it was an UPGRADE but turns out it was as DOWNGRADE.

The least they can do is offer a 100% refund. But will they? No.

I can sympathise with "tigger". Help did not solve my problem neither did my suppliers expensive help line.

In Movie Maker I loaded previewed and verified, then at the "burn" stage it failed during encoding with an error message (Error :80040207). I had the program a month. I advisedly updated drivers etc., defragged, uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail. Finally lost patience and took it back to supplier. New program (not Roxio) worked first time. It's a shame really because I was impressed with Roxio6 and decided to move up a notch. Looking on the forum, there seems to be people with more computer know how than me who can't sort similar problems. It really should not be this difficult.

What program did you get? I've been looking into Cyberlink DVD Director but can't seem to find a Canadian reseller. Unfortunately, I'm too late to return EMC 9 for a refund becuase I stupidly bought it direct from Roxio and it's been more than 30 days. I suppose I can use the CD as a coaster...

I too have uninstalled & reinstalled a couple of times with no luck. My Dell Dimension 9200 (which I received Dec 22) came with a 60-day trial of McAfee and initially, I thought this was the problem but after removing McAfee, it hasn't made any bit of a difference.

Clearly Roxio released a major dud of a program but they don't have the balls to admit it. I won't be surprised of EMC 10 comes out before the end of Q2.

Nothing will be resolved until Roxio gets a patch out. The venting has been done, and that is fine. I have done it myself, but continuation of this thread will be fruitless.
