Question

:) Now I am trying use EMC9 Drag-to-Disc and drag some data files to a CD-RW that I've used with no problem on the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. So what heck did I purchase EMC9 for...all I am having is headaches. And I can't even work-around this problem now by doing a copy/paste from my C drive to my E-drive (CD drive)...because I'm sure that EMC9 has some "hold" on my PC now. This is ridiculas and really unenjoyable. I want my money back. Or maybe Roxio can send me a previous version like Easy CD & DVD Creator 7 or 8. EMC9 is crap.

Now the latest, when I click on the Eject botton on the Drag-to-Disc icon, my system reboots.

I am using Windows XP Prof (with the latest fixes). I have an 80 gig hard-drive, and 1.5 gig of RAM.

By the away, I'm a fairly experienced user and never had any of these problems on Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. All these problems started with EMC9.

And I am not using double layer DVDs. I'm using a CD-RW to just save data files.

You know, I've read that remark about reliabllity with packet writing all over this forum. So if D2D and Incd, etc is so bad and unreliable, then why do they make the software? I"ve been using Roxio for a long time, all the way back to when adaptec made the software, and had only one problem with backing up to cd-rw or dvd-rw, and that was only when I upgraded to a newer version. The newer verison was not compatible with the older version. so you have to erase the disk and reformat with the newer version, like the other guy said to do.

But I myself am having a problem with the new version EMC9. This version has big problems with D2D. I went back to EMC8, and now everything is just great again. EMC9 will not format a DVD-RW or a DVD+RW.

I'm not going to go into details of my hardware and software, and troubleshooting procedures. I'll just say its a Roxio software problem.

Anybody that reads this, remember the saying "if it aint broke don't fix it". I know this saying very well, but did not practice it. If your older version works fine, there is no reason to upgrade. If you must upgrade, wait until Roxio releases a patch. Kind of like microsoft you know. Wait for the service pack.

I'd recommend you pull the files off the RW to the hard drive and re-format it - then put them back along with the new files

However, if you are using D2D for backup purposes, you're playing Russian Roulette really. Packet writing (and I mean ANY packet writing, whether it be InCD, DLA or D2D) is about as reliable as an igloo in the Sahara. Couple that with the short-term storage capability of an RW disc and you are looking at a loss of any data
