Backup MyPC Question

I am using Backup MYPC V 7 that comes with Easy Media Creator 9. I am backing up to a 500 gig external hard disk. When I do a full back up from my operating disk (C drive) instead of one large back up *.qic file I get 10 or 12 each of 4.7 gig size like it thinks it is going to a DVD. I do not see any option to change. Is this normal?

Serious beginner question here, but I've been thinking about getting an external hard drive as well, so I gotta know....

 

If you're backing up to a huge external hard drive, what is the advantage of using My BackUp? Why not just connect the two with a usb cable, select the C drive, and choose "copy"?

For an external drive I'd recommend using Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost

 

If you simply use 'copy' you won't get the system files transferred - better to make the ghost image and in that case everything gets restored

It looks as if that is the normal mode so I wouldn't worry too much. Most people want to back up to DVD which is probably why the value is set at that
