By using regedit and applying full permissions to sonic all applications now run without activation codes.

on the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic

Right click on sonic

Select Permissions

Select advanced ensure that inherit the parent permissions (first check box at bottom) is checked

Check full control

Select apply and select okay

Hope this helps

After nearly two frustrating months of trying to install ECM 8 Suite (D/L version), and fter receiving the same error message as you did, in desperation, I downloaded and ran Roxizap.exe -- an 'old' utility program by Roxio to remove remants of old versions of Roxio applications.

After running Roxizap.exe, I was able to install ECM 8 Suite with no problem. Read the instractions of running Roxizap.exe VERY CAREFULLY. Use with caution.

I have reasons I haven't updated RoxiZap for v6 and higher... mostly because of Creator 6 and higher being protected by the Windows installer....

This was a common problem in version 7.5. I believe the customer support has a solution (cineplayer). I don't remember if it was ever posted on the boards.

I'm not sure if they are related?

I just remembered something, You did not have a prior version of that program installed (cineplayer)?

During the install of EMC8 VerC retail version, I get a Sonic message box requesting an activation code for CineMagic.

I have enter the CDkey on the disk envelope many different ways, but it is not acceptable.

Isn't this part of EMC8?

What or where is the correct code?

There was a issue a while back for the cineplayer, but that was in the old forms. As you know those old foms no longer exists. Maybe someone remembers

Good grief!!!!!!!! You don't even have the software that is being talked about here! You have a Sonic version of MyDVD 6 LE, which you mentioned in a different thread, which is in its proper place in the Sonic forums, now.:blink::blink:

You dug up a thread that was dead over a year ago!

Could I have purchased an 'old' version of EMC8? The label on the box has REVC on it.

How can I find out the revision of the currently shipping retail boxed EMC8?

Open Creator Classic, click on Help, click on about, and look at the build number. Post it here. You may already have the 8.05 version.
