Educator
Hi Forum, I have Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2. About a month ago I ran into serious problems and had a computer person reinstall Windows. While he did so, he added Easy CD and DVD Creator 6. I was VERY happy with this software. I love the drag option. It seemed so easy to use. Recently I purchased Easy Media Creator 9 (because of some other issues), but it proved to be too much program for my Dell Dimension XPS T700r. I went ahead and uninstalled it. When I installed Creator 9, I kept the 6.0 version. Now there seems to be problems with the original version. I went ahead and purchase Creator 6.0 from Best Buy. Even though I have installed it a couple of times, it will not burn DVDs. When I use Creator Classic, right away a message appears. It says: Error Signature AppName: Creatorc.exe AppVer:6.2.0.130 Mod Name: trkwrite.dll ModVer:6.2.0.130 Offset: 0000242a Then a detailed message is sent to Microsoft concerning the problem. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks! Educator

Educator
Possibly bits of EMC9 are left behind after the uninstall. Uninstall ECD6 and run this program from Microsoft to remove any Roxio or Sonic entries in the registry Thanks for the reply, gi7omy. I did the uninstall as you suggested. I also went to the registry and saw no evidence of either version 6.0 or 9.0. Any suggestions on where to go from here? BTW, I did find another post that was having a similar problem. I did not find an easy fix though. I don't want to format and reinstall. I have already done that. Here is a link to the post: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=17742 Thanks! james_hardin
Are you starting Classic through the Start – All Programs – ECDC – Classic when this happens? If you are using the Home to launch it, try the above path. Do other programs in the Suite launch? – Disc Copier, DVD Builder? You mentioned "drag option"… If you are referring to Drag to Disc, understand that it is a Packet Writer and as such should not be used for any form of backup! Packet writers are quick and easy but not reliable.

Packet writers are quick and easy but not reliable. Actually, Packet-Writing programs (DirectCD, Drag2Disc, Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, etc) are good at permantly LOSING data. I managed to learn the hard way, since I didn't think my software guru was correct on this one. Lynn
Educator
Hi Forum, I solved my problem. After both versions 6 and 9 were uninstalled, I did a system restore to a point prior to my loading of Easy Media Creator 9. After the system restore task, my desktop showed only my Easy CD and DVD version 6. I tried to open the program, but it wouldn't work. I then reinstalled it, and my problems were solved. What helped was reading the posts from a prior topic. I believe the guy talked about "system restore" among many other things. I had never used that option before, but will certainly remember its usefulness in the future. I was darned near ready to buy a new computer, as I love still photography and video. I capture my son's football, basketball, track, and baseball events. It seems I am constantly burning disks for coaches and parents. Now that I utilize my LG burner, it's hard to live without it. Thanks again for your assistance! Educator
