NOT BURNING

Hello there, i have saved my production as an ISO and then tried to burn the production on to DVD, it was burning then had an error message something to do to with the drive, i think i need to update the drive, what does that mean???How do i need to update? Do you think i should do a sytem restore on my computer? If i do this and save my production on a pen then reinstall roxio will it catch my save? Also will roxio let me reinsall my software?? Please pleae advise. Many thanks in advance...

If the iso was created and saved, there's nothing wrong with the program (it did what it was supposed to do)

 

However, to get the iso on to the DVD uoi need to open it with Disc Copy and that's where the problem is starting

 

What sort of error messages are you getting from the drive? Is it saying it was a write error, calibration error or is it asking for a blank disc?

 

Guessing from your post - it may need a firmware update but for that you'd need to go to the drive maker's website and download and run a drive flash update

Thankyou for your advise, i think it is my computer playing games, if i was to do a sytem restore, i would have to reinsatll roxio, would i have any problems as i have actvated this.? Also my saved productions if i was to save this on my pen would there be any problems catching this again when i reinstall. Many thansk in advance.

Restoring probably won't cure it - if you roll back far enough you would have to re-install some apps (hard to say which ones)

 

You could try one of these two programs tho and run a malware sweep: Adaware and Spybot

 

Both are free for personal use

Thanks but what do you mean by if you roll back far enough you would have to re-install some apps (hard to say which ones) If i do this i can stiil put roxio on cant i? And my saved production on my pen should work when it is reinsatlled? Pleade advise.

If the RW worked fine and this batch of +Rs aren't - then it looks like you have a bad batch of discs. Check again with the RW and see if that still works - if so, then change the brand of blank +R

 

Hello there i have succesfully burnt the production on dvd rw. I have watched this on my computer and hofeully it should work on my dvd. Why did it not burn on blank +R?? if i had a bad patch i should get my money back shooulnt i? Also i tried to burn this on cretaor the iso file but this would not show in creator why is this? Is it possible now to copy my production which is on dvd rw onto a blank disc? What media do you recommend me? Can you also recommend me a dc/dvd drive that will make the burning more quicker rather that waiting for hours? Many thanks for advance.

The stuff on the pen drive will be fine - it's not touched (as far as windows is concerned, it's a separate drive)

 

System Restore rolls your system back to a specified date - and if that is before you installed EMC, then you would need to re-install. However, whatever is causing the problem may still be there - that's why I recommended you doing a sweep for malware/spyware using those two programs. The reason for two is one catches stuff that the other doesn't

To copy the RW, use Disc Copy and select the hard drive as the destination (this will make either a .iso, a .bin./.cue or .c2d (all image files). Open that image with Disc Copy and it will write a new DVD.

 

Even a 2 speed DVD writer shouldn't take the length of time you are seeing, so increasing the speed of the writer won't help but burn at 4 speed anyway - some set top players don't like faster burns

Many thanks for that, i have just brought som blank +R's dvds TDK ones and not from the pound shop!!

I try to avoid the pound shop ones myself - I can get good ones nearly as cheap just round the corner from Poundstretcher here anyway

Are you talking about the actual time it takes to write a DVD or are you talking about the rendering process before it writes?

 

Rendering does take a long time - on my machine it takes at least as long as the movie duration and it's not just EMC. I also have Poser 6 and rendering a still in that can take 20 minutes.

 

Actual 'burn' time should be in the order of minutes (especially if you're working from a previously rendered image file)

hello ther did what you said, and went into creator added my ISO production pressed burnt a little way thropugh i get this error message saying write error - medium error "[03/0C/00).

 

pLEASE HELP!!

 

Also how do you insert print screen shots on here so that i acn show you the errors

'medium error' is down to the disc - it is reporting back to the program that it's faulty. Try a different brand and see what happens.

Thanks for the information when you say it is reporting back to the program that it's faulty do you mean the blank discs? Because i brought these brand new, i am trying again and its writing at the moment we are at 16% the best so far! we will see if it works hopefully it will!! Why is it being picky!! Also the estimated time know and again keeps jumping ftom 1hour to 20 mins to 50 minutes why is this? i created an iso i thought it just quickley burns??

Change in burn time - 30 minutes plus does seem a bit long but burn time will change as it progresses (the program is constantly checking on the drive speed and that varies as it progresses). You probably noticed that the reported speed isn't what the drive is capable of - what you get is the instantaneous speed (the speed it is actually writing at that moment rather than the overall speed)

the project burn succesfully i think because it ejected but when i put this back in everything sort of freezes it will not play

Just tried it now and says error disc, so frustrated, i mean all i want to do is have photos and videos played on a dvd for family and friends is it that hard? Yes it is? Please help me and advise me. I a,m burning this on a dvd + r which i always use, before i used a dvd rw+ and it burnt all right then
