Video Processing Hangs

pjenningsmom

Question

Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Deluxe Suite

I am having a problem while trying to process video. I've edited a video that I captured from my Sony digicam, but now that I'm finished, I can't seem to get it down on disk. I've tried to things. One, I tried using MyDVD Express to burn to DVD but it hangs at 1.78 GB or 56% of the video. Then, I tried rendering from Videowave, but it stopped in the same place. I thought there might be a corrupt clip, so I tried removing a clip, then two, then three, but it still goes to 1.78 GB or 56% of the video and hangs. No error message, just stops. I've tried letting it go overnight, but it still never goes past that point.

I went to FAQ's and took their advice to update my drivers, but they are updated. I'm using a NVIDIA GEForce 7800GTX video card.

Please Help! :)

This has happened to me so often that I've given up on Roxio and am casting about for a different app like Vega or Premiere Elements. Would be grateful for any good answers you might get. George

Strange. How much free and defraggmented space do you have on your computer's hard drive? No matter, clear out your junk files and defrag your hard drive. Make sure all other programs are shut down doing any video work including your anti-virus after you disconnect from the internet.

Is your hard drive NTFC or FAT formatted?

How long (time) is the video project?

Was the video captured as AVI or mpg2?

When you said that you tried to render from VideoWave, did you mean that you were "outputting" the project to an mpg2 file from VideoWave? If so, what is going on in your project about the time the rendering hangs?

It could be a bad clip but it may be more likely to be a bad transition, or transition timing, a unsupported music file, and about a half dozen other causes. Noting the time should help you find the problem.

It would also help if you post your computer profile in your signature. Use the My Controls at the top of this page to edit your signature.
