adio capture records but switches input and looses sound

skshepherd

Question

I had previously used the audio capture to capture a streaming radio show I like. I have the program set to my realtek soundcard and stereo mix and the program shows its recording the material via the sound level meter. Then radomly the input switches from stereo mix to mic and it records silence? Any suggestions?

btw, I recently installed a logitec webcam and skype video conferencing program.

Thanks

the radio program has its own window with the radio controls on it so Im not sure what program that is. Ive used the easy audio capture from roxio to capture it from the soundcard before but now it starts recording from the soundcard stereo mix and then switches input by itself to mic and then keeps recording but records silence.

so my problem basically is how can I keep it from switching inputs during the middle of recording? It didnt do that before. Im not sure if its trying to use the mic from the logitec cam or what.

I just did a bit of searching round on the board and found this post from TBrewst - I don't know if this describes your problem or not

"...To be able to capture from the net then your card needs an input such as "What you hear","Wave","Monitor" or something like that depending on the card.Often times Mother Board built in audio doesn't have these.

I use a Creative Labs Audigy 2.There are a few versions of that card but they all do what you're trying to do as do most(if not all) other Creative cards. As far as other manufacturers go,I can't really comment as I've only ever used Creative cards but I'm sure that other cards also do what you want to do...."

I know there are other programs that I can get to do this but what Im really after is to find out why this one stopped working.

The easy audio capture from roxio does this as well, it records what the soundcard "hears." However I set mine to record what the soundcard Hears by setting it to stereo mix. It records for a while and then switches to record what the Microphone hears, which is nothing. It did not switch by itself before and that is what Im trying to fix.

Im thinking that the logitech webcam with built in mic might have something to do with it but I can't seem to figure out the connection.

Thanks for the help and suggestions, I appreciate it.

ok. I got it to work but changed several things so Im not sure which one did the trick. I went to my control tab for my sound card. I then clicked properties and under recording de selected mic and selected stereo mix. Then when I opened easy audio capture it was already set to that. So even though I was selecting stereo mix from within the easy audio it was set to mic on the options tab for the soundcard.

Thanks for all the help!

Steve
