Multiple problems w/ VideoWave

Chet1950

Question

This is the first time I've tried to use VideoWave to edit either a .AVI or an MPG2 file imported with Roxio "Media Import" - and having all sorts of problems

a) Whenever I select any of the "Add Content" or "Tools" selections on the left side, VideoWave tends to lock up & I have to end it with Task Manager.

:) When I go to View -> Media Selector and select the .avi or .mpg that I had created earlier, I can play it. But when I drag it to the StoryLine, the spot stays blank - no thumbnail. This means that I can't edit anything.

c) I've went thru a "Repair" cycle - no help.

What gives ???

Thanks for the info ! As I stated in my signature, I have not yet loaded XP drivers for my video card and am using the on-board video. Yeah I know - not good ! Could it be that I need my video card installed before attempting any editing w/ EMC 8 ???

Yes, install those latest drivers! You should find them here; follow the install instructions. Did you get a notice that the on-board video chips were diabled? Go to Windows Start> Run> type in dxdiag and then OK. On ethe first page, see what DirectX you have installed. Then go to the display tab. See what it says there about your display. It should look like the image below but have the ATI information where I have the nVidia information.

You can always try updating DirectX 9c. Then open VideoWave and click (top menu) tools then options and set the dot near software. You may be able to do a little editing and playing around before you update the drivers.

I have a lot of issues with videowave too. It helps to list your computer specs. The gurus in here are very helpful, but they need to know what you are working with. especially your graphics card.
