cannot add movies in Mydvd9

Snoogy710

Question

I just recently purchased EMC 9.0 and I'm just starting to use it. The problem is that when I want to add movies in mydvd9 (mpg format from my sony dvd handycam) it says that the file cannot be edited and has not been added. So, I cannot make any dvd with movies that I downloaded from my sony dvd handycam. Is there some setting I didn't activate? What should I do to add my mpg files which I can all view on windows media player 10

Using the software provided with my sony dvd handycam, and connecting my handycam via the usb cable supplied in the box, I was able to download my movies in mpg format onto my hard disk using the picture package software supplied. My problem is that when I want to add the movie files (mpg format) in mydvd9 it says that the files cannot be edited and was not added. The result is that I have to use click to dvd to make my dvds. Using click to dvd, I can access the movie files I transferred from my handycam onto my hard disk. It seems that I cannot add the movie files using mydvd9 or any roxio software included in EMC 9.0.

If you have Click to DVD, you probably have a Sony Vaio computer. Correct? If yes, then it should have come with a video editing program called DVgate Plus, or something similar. Try loading the mpeg file into DVgate and outputting it to a DV AVI file. See if that file will work in EMC9.

I am not sure why the original mpeg file will not load into EMC9. But I suspect it may be due to a conflict between Click to DVD and some component of EMC9. I also have a Vaio and I cannot have both Click to DVD and EMC9 loaded on the computer. My problems are different, but I have uninstalled Click to DVD and EMC9 runs fine. That's OK for me since I did not particularly care for the capabilities of Click to DVD.

Hope that gives you a few more options to try.

I checked all the boxes for associated files like for bmp and jpeg etc. but there was no box for mpeg capabilities. How do I activate that now that EMC 9 is already installed on my laptop?

mpeg is an automatic activation (or should be) When you go to use it it is supposed to go online to activate (it's 3rd party software and needs activated separately from the main program)

You need to "capture" from the camera.

Video/Capture Video.

This produces a file that you can import into VideoWave to edit.

Save from VideoWave to file or files.

Import these into My DVD.

I already transferred the video clips I took with my sony dvd handycam onto the hard disk. The clips were saved in mpg format. My problem is that mydvd9 doesnt support that format. How do I get mydvd9 to work with the mpg format if that is at all possible? Or how do I convert the mpg files into a format that mydvd9 can work with?

Did you make sure and activate mpeg capabilities when the popup came up after you installed V9?
