create disk images when spanning

a/b

Question

Hi All,

is anyone aware of a way to persuade Toast 8 to save disk images when spanning?

I have some very large volumes to back up and it is not always possible for me to burn all the dvds in one go. The ability to save disk images would allow me to do the actual burn when I can, possibly on several machines at once.

many thanks

Andy

This, and other features would be very handy:

1) Choosing the size of the disc to be spanned. It is not wise to burn right to the edge of a DVD-R, as this is the most unstable and most suseptible to damage. You should be able to choose a maximum size for the spans (like 4.0 or 4.1 GB, for instance)

2) Save disk images when spanning. This would be VERY helpful in my case, where I have a robotic burner, and I could set that up to do backups overnight, instead of sitting there and feeding discs for archiving large spans (8 DVDs or more for a big project (I work in professional audio))

3) File splitting options. You should be able to choose the minimum size for a file split, or if files are to be split at all.

These simple fixes should not be difficult to code. Many of these features ARE AVAILABLE in other spanning softwares for the mac, but I do like the Roxio Restore utility, and I also like the new catalog feature. I do have a concern with Roxio Restore, however. What guarantee do we have that this program will open two operating systems from now? Hmmm...
