chuck1103
I have been locking up using CD Creater 5.1 Basic which was installed on my DELL computer on a Windows XP Operating system. I uninstalled and re-installed 5.1 and was given a message stating it was incompatible with my system. It then went ahead and re-installed 5.1 anyway. Is there a free download to fix the problem or do I have to purchase a new version? I guess I don't understand DELL putting an incompatible program on my computer to begin with. I don't have any problems reading the disks which I use for backing up my data files. I just get sick of being unable to eject/unlock the CD. I must have rebooted 5 or 6 times this morning. (1) when an OEM (Original Equipment Mfgr) modifies a program for OEM installaltion, they are then the ones responsible for providing support. Dell falls into that category (2) pinned to the top of this board are two posts that if you looked around, you would have found - one on the Dell Patch and one on ECDC 5 vs WinXP. They are both relevant, altho since there are probably some additonal modifications to ECDC 5 by Dell, the first point is also worth pursuing. (3) if this eject/unlock problem has anything to do with you having made the mistake of formatting the disc, I'd sugest you also read the 3rd post pinned to hte top, with special emphasis on the sections about fomatting discs, DirectCD, and if applicable, CD-RW. (4) since this is a separate topic from the original one (rather like the mechanic would not consider a car not starting because there is no gas to be separate from the car not starting because there is no ignition key), it should've been posted as a new thread. However - did you read the preceeding part of the thread? Did you try any of the sugestions? Lynn
