weezie
Hello, I have been having a problem for quite some time with Roxio CD and DVD Easy Creator 6 The Media Digital Suite. After I write to a CD or DVD or if I eject any previously written RW disk, I get a blue screen on my computer and have to manually shut down the computer. I have tried uninstall and reinstall. I still have the same problem Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks
gi7omy
Did you install Internet Explorer 7 and/or Windows Media Player 11? If you did, remove both of them (they wreck all Roxio up to at least EMC8)
lynn98109
If you have WinXP - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER manually eject the disc. WinXP, in it's high-and-lofty "wisdom" won't write anything at all until you do the right-click > eject command. If you manually eject before then, you lose everything. I detest WinXP. james_hardin
The BSOD is likely a result of your drive in need of a firmware update. While Lynn's advice is sound, I have never had a problem ejecting with the button. It also sounds as though you may be using Drag to Disc. I have mine set to Show Eject Options on Eject. If you aren't using that setting then, as Lynn suggests, you should use the right click on the D2D icon method to finish the write.
weezie
Thanks to all of you for your replies. I haven't had time to check into them as yet. I do have Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11, however I have had this problem before these versions were installed. The problem happens if I right click on the cd or dvd and then select eject as well as use the eject button from the drag to disk bar. I ran a repair last evening but will have to wait until I have more time to see what happened. I have not checked about the firmware upgrade as yet but I will. Thanks for the suggestions. gi7omy
Remove both IE7 and WMP11 before you do anything else - no matter what you do or try, ECD 6 will NOT work with those installed. IE7 can be rolled back to IE6 with add/remove programs. WMP11 is a bit more complicated - see here for details When you have that done, come back and we'll see if we can get to the bottom of the original fault
