Compress DVD files to fit on iPod

RockT

Question

I'm becoming extremely frustrated by the following: I have video files on my hard drive that I'd like to put on my iPod using the video compilation feature. However, 4 minutes of video currently takes 250MB. Isn't there some kind of compress feature when converting to mpeg4 format (or any other format for that matter)? Right now the only thing I can think of is to use something like DVD Shrink multiple times to bring down the size to around 40MB (and this takes far too much time)...

How big a file are you starting with? I don't use this function but have played around with it using 1 hour tv captures to mpeg2 high quality and found that the final files are pretty large but not as large as what you're seeing.

Try using Videowave. Just load the file and then OUTPUT TO FILE option. There are two choices for smaller files:

AVC good quality: 320X240 AAC audio

AVC smaller size: 160X120 AAC audio
